Stephen Kaufer President and Chief Executive Officer
Steve co-founded TripAdvisor in 2000 with the mission to help travelers around the world plan and have the perfect trip. Under his leadership, TripAdvisor has grown into the largest Web 2.0 company in the northeast and the world's largest travel site, with more than 200 million unique monthly visitors, 44 million members and over 100 million reviews and opinions. Steve has also built the TripAdvisor Media Group, consisting of 19 leading travel brands, and has expanded the TripAdvisor brand into 30 countries, including France, Germany, Greece, Italy, India, Japan, Russia, Spain, the U.K., Indonesia, Argentina, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Egypt. Steve and his co-founders sold TripAdvisor to InterActive Corporation in 2004, which later spun off its travel businesses to Expedia, Inc., and Steve has continued to run day-to-day operations. Prior to co-founding TripAdvisor, Steve was president of CDS, Inc., a successful independent software vendor specializing in programming and testing tools. Previously, Steve was co-founder and vice president of engineering of CenterLine Software, where he led the development of several award-winning programming environments. Kaufer, winner of the 2005 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, holds several software patents and has spoken at dozens of travel and high-tech conferences worldwide. He is on the board of directors at Glassdoor (www.glassdoor.com), a job review site; CarGurus (www.cargurus.com), an online automotive community; DigitalAdvisor LLC, which owns and manages a digital camera site (www.digitalcamera-hq.com) and a deals site (www.beatthat.com); and the Caring For Carcinoid Foundation (http://www.caringforcarcinoid.org), a non-profit charity dedicated to finding a cure for Carcinoid and Neuroendocrine cancers. Julie M.B. Bradley Chief Financial Officer
Julie is responsible for overseeing corporate finance, investor relations, accounting, corporate development, human resources and real estate at TripAdvisor. Bradley previously served as senior vice president and chief financial officer of Art Technology Group (ATG), where she was responsible for managing all financial activities, investor relations and global infrastructure. During her tenure, Bradley guided the company to profitable revenue growth and ultimately oversaw the acquisition of ATG by Oracle. She was also named 2010 CFO of the Year Award Honoree by the Boston Business Journal. Prior to joining ATG, Bradley was vice president of finance at Akamai Technologies. She started her career at Deloitte. Bradley is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a B.A. in Economics from Wheaton College.
Seth Kalvert Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary
Seth Kalvert has responsibility for all of the legal activities of TripAdvisor and the TripAdvisor Media Group. Prior to assuming his role as General Counsel in August 2011, Kalvert held various positions at Expedia, Inc., most recently as Vice President, Associate General Counsel since February 2006, where he had primary responsibility for the legal aspects of the company's mergers and acquisitions and other transactional work, along with the global Expedia brand, and managed a team that provided legal support for various Expedia brands, including TripAdvisor and Hotwire, in addition to privacy and trademarks across Expedia, Inc. Before joining Expedia, Kalvert held various legal positions at IAC/InterActiveCorp, which he joined in July 2001. Previously, Kalvert held a business development role at a privately-held online social networking and eCommerce company and practiced law in the New York office of Debevoise & Plimpton, LLP. He holds an A.B. from Brown University and a J.D. from Columbia Law School.
Bill Bailey Vice President, Corporate and Business Development
Bill Bailey is responsible for leading the company’s efforts in mergers and acquisitions, strategic partnerships, and strategic planning. Bill previously served as Vice President of Corporate and Business Development at Ancestry.com, where he was responsible for driving multiple partnerships and acquisitions including the $100 million acquisition of Archives.com. Prior to Ancestry.com, Bill wasVice President of Corporate and Business Development at Check Point Software Technologies Inc., Vice President of Corporate Development at Autodesk, and Senior Director, Corporate Development at Yahoo, where he was responsible for global strategic partnerships, M&A, integrations, and growth strategies. Bill holds a bachelor's degree from Wesleyan University and a master’s degree from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government where he was a Kennedy Fellow.
Marc Charron Managing Director, APAC
Marc Charron is responsible for expanding existing TripAdvisor businesses in India, Japan and Australia, as well as developing new markets in Southeast Asia and the rest of Asia Pacific. Charron joined TripAdvisor in 2006 as managing director for Europe. As the company's first international employee, he lead the rollout and growth of local language sites and operations across Europe and set up the regional headquarters in London. Prior to joining TripAdvisor, Charron served as vice president of product marketing at SquareTrade in San Francisco. Before SquareTrade, Charron served as managing director of QXL.com, Getz International Travel and Danube Travel, all based in London. He received a bachelor's degree from Trinity University.
Andy Gelfond Senior Vice President, Technology
Andy Gelfond is responsible for leading TripAdvisor's engineering organization. Prior to joining TripAdvisor in 2004, Gelfond was founder and CTO of several Boston-based companies including InterGroup Technologies, LumaPath and Publish2Go, and was an architect and development manager for Lotus Development Corporation. Gelfond moved to the Boston area in 1988 after selling one of his companies, DeltaCom, to Index Technology. He attended the Moore School of Engineering, University of Pennsylvania.
Dermot Halpin President, Vacation Rentals
Dermot is responsible for overseeing the vacation rentals division at TripAdvisor including management of FlipKey and Holiday Lettings. He previously served as CEO of Autoquake, a small business that used the internet and data analytics to change the way cars are retailed. Prior to Autoquake, Dermot was President of Expedia EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa). Throughout his tenure, Dermot oversaw Expedia, Hotels.com and Expedia Affiliate Networks in the region. Before joining Expedia, Dermot worked at several technology-driven businesses, including Tele2, a European telecoms operator which he ran. Dermot holds an MBA from INSEAD and studied engineering at University College Dublin, Ireland.
Robin Ingle Senior Vice President, Advertising Sales
Robin Ingle is responsible for all graphical and cost-per-click advertising sales as well as ad operations for TripAdvisor. She joined TripAdvisor in 2001 and most recently led international development. Prior to that, Ingle handled all client relations for the company. Before joining TripAdvisor, Ingle served as vice president of advertising at Access Media, vice president of sales for MediaPassage, and director of display advertising at the Chicago Sun-Times.
Adam Medros Vice President, Global Product, TripAdvisor
Adam Medros heads worldwide product development for TripAdvisor. Since joining the world's largest travel site in 2004, Medros has overseen improvements to TripAdvisor's core functionality, international expansion, and development of a wide variety of travel planning features, including TripAdvisor Mobile. He was also instrumental in TripAdvisor's 2007 launch of travel applications onto the Facebook Platform. These applications Cities I've Visited, Local Picks, and Traveler's IQ Challenge have introduced the TripAdvisor brand to millions of new people around the world and generated a high volume of fresh content for the core site. In 2010, Medros led TripAdvisor's launch of its "TripAdvisor Trip Friends" social feature and Facebook Instant Personalization on TripAdvisor. Prior to joining TripAdvisor, Medros held Senior Analyst and Product Manager positions at Nordstrom.com, Amazon.com, and The Parthenon Group. He serves on the board of oneforty.com, MITX, and is an advisor to care.com. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College.
Barbara Messing Chief Marketing Officer
Barbara Messing leads the global marketing efforts as TripAdvisor continues to expand its global footprint as the world's largest travel site. Messing leads all of TripAdvisor's consumer marketing activities, including brand development and experience, customer relationship marketing, public relations, search engine marketing, traffic acquisition, and mobile partnerships. Prior to joining TripAdvisor, Messing spent nine years at Hotwire, also part of the Expedia, Inc. family, where she served in a number of leadership roles, most recently serving as vice president and general manager of Travel Ticker. Messing also served in roles including vice president of customer experience and director of product development. Before joining Hotwire in 2002, Messing was a product director at Keen.com and a segment producer at The Travel Channel. She holds an undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and a J.D. from Stanford University.
Bryan Saltzburg General Manager, New Initiatives
Saltzburg is the head of new initiatives and leads TripAdvisor's new global Flights product and its fast growing Vacation Rentals business. Prior to joining TripAdvisor, he worked for Travelocity, most recently serving as vice president of leisure businesses. Over his eight years there, Saltzburg was responsible for launching their successful online cruise business, and for managing and building the high-growth dynamic packaging, activities and events, and insurance businesses. Saltzburg previously held marketing and business development positions at Walt Disney Company, Neutrogena and Princess Cruises. He holds a B.S. in education and social policy from Northwestern University and an M.B.A from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California.
